I am reading a difficult but awe inspiring book at the moment by Sister Ilio Delio, a Franciscan nun called ‘The not yet God’ She is both a scientist and a theologian and speaks both nationally and internationally on topics such as quantum physics, artificial intelligence, evolution, and the importance and relevance of these fields for Christianity.

Her insights with regard to entanglement are enlightening.

Entanglement is a fascinating concept that originates from quantum physics but has profound implications beyond the realm of science.

In quantum physics, entanglement refers to a phenomenon where two or more particles become connected in such a way that the state of one particle is directly related to the state of another, regardless of the distance between them.

(Entanglement is a well-established phenomenon in quantum physics and has been experimentally verified through various tests and is a fundamental aspect of quantum theory)

This interconnectedness challenges our conventional notions of separateness and highlights the underlying unity of all things -something I believe lots of us feel intuitively but find difficult to express.

In the context of Ken Wilber’s integral theory, entanglement can be seen as a reflection of the interconnectedness of all holons within holons within holons, as described in the concept of nested holarchies. Just as particles in quantum entanglement exhibit a non-local correlation, everything in the universe is interconnected in a vast network of interwoven systems and processes.

Entanglement invites us to explore the deep interdependence and unity that underlies our perceived separateness, inviting us to see the world in a more holistic and interconnected way. It’s a timely reminder that we are all part of a larger whole, intricately connected in ways that transcend our individual boundaries, something the mystics have been experiencing for centuries.

A top I saw in a well known chain store as I was contemplating the implications of connectedness with everything and everyone. I can’t help but love these synchronicities when they happen!

You cannot fail to notice, on an hourly basis, the degree of polarisation and fragmentation in society. This only leads to a sense of isolation, disconnection, and disunity among individuals, communities, and societies, breeding fear and mistrust and creating unnecessary barriers between people.

The implications of entanglement extend beyond just our individual selves; it encompasses all levels of existence, from the micro to the macro, from the personal to the cosmic. We are not isolated beings but rather integral parts of a vast and interconnected web of life.

In the grand tapestry of existence, every individual, every system, every holon plays a unique and essential role.

Recognising our interconnectedness can lead to a profound shift in perspective, fostering empathy, compassion, and a deep sense of belonging to something greater than ourselves.

Just as every particle is intimately linked to the whole, we too are integral parts of a vast and interconnected web of existence.

In a world filled with division and fragmentation, it’s crucial to remember that we are all interconnected like particles in quantum entanglement.  Embracing our interconnected nature can inspire empathy, compassion, and a sense of unity, reminding us that we are all threads in the fabric of the universe. Let’s spread the message of interconnectedness and oneness to foster a world where division fades in the light of our shared unity.
